Case Summary
In videos obtained from Zachariah Sattler's Google account through a search warrant, Sattler points the camera at his own vomit, and says that he "threw up on the Capitol", according to court documents. A phone number belonging to Sattler also reportedly connected to a cell phone tower that services the inside of the U.S. Capitol on Jan 6, 2021, according to information obtained through a search warrant to Verizon. Additionally, court records indicate that two people came forward saying that they heard that Sattler had smoked marijuana inside the Capitol during the riot, and both positively identified Sattler from surveillance and open source footage inside and outside the capitol. The footage allegedly shows Sattler entering the capitol, smoking, taking photos and kneeling in front of a statue. Sattler was arrested on Dec. 13, 2022, in Chestertown, Md.
Case History
Sattler pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 7/27/2023 to 30 days incarceration; 24 months of probation; special assessment of $10; restitution of $500. Sattler received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
