Case Summary
A relative of William Tryon's turned him in to the FBI after seeing him on CNN during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, court documents indicate. Tryon is also allegedly seen in photographs from both outside and inside the Capitol that day. In one video from that day, Tryon is interviewed, clutching a laptop and an American flag in one arm and his cellphone in the other. The screen of Tryon's cellphone is visible, and it appears he is actively on a call with someone saved in his contacts as "Bill & Jill Tryon.” In the video, he says, "All we want to do is enter and tell our representatives that we want our country back. We’re not going to take this.” According to court documents and news reports, Tryon is the founder of the Liberty Bell Alliance 76, described on its Facebook page as a group of "Modern day Minutemen and women working together through peaceful channels to protect our children’s beautiful America from ungodly socialist forces that would destroy it from within, and enslave our posterity." Tryon has also been seen at pro-police rallies in the Albany, N.Y., region, according to local public radio station WAMC.

Tryon received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
