Case Summary
Court documents state that William Lewis, wearing a black jacket with a U.S. Army star logo on the left sleeve, stood on the West Plaza of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and sprayed at law enforcement officers with a type of wasp and hornet spray. When the can emptied, he threw it in their direction and proceeded to the Lower West Terrace where he allegedly used what appears to be a police baton to break glass panes close to the tunnel. He was arrested on Nov. 9, 2023. According to sentencing memos filed in court, Lewis served in the U.S. Army.
Case History
Lewis pleaded Guilty to the charge. Sentenced on 1/17/2025 to 37 Months of Incarceration; 24 months of supervised release with conditions; Special Assessment: $100; Restitution: $3,761. Lewis received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
