Case Summary
Uliyahu Hayah stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, federal prosecutors allege, and soon after spoke about his experience inside the building to a reporter on camera. "We pushed all the way through," Hayah said on the video, according to court documents. "They couldn't stop us." In that video, he said he been "maced," but was wearing a gas mask at the time. Prosecutors allege that Hayah can be seen on police bodycam and surveillance footage pushing an officer inside the building during one confrontation. Court documents said that Hayah is on parole following a criminal conviction for assault in Maryland. Hayah's parole officer helped to identify him to federal investigators, court records said. Hayah was arrested on Aug. 26, 2021.
