Case Summary
Two witnesses tipped off the FBI to an image of Tyler Slaeker in the U.S. Capitol building on social media during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot. Court documents say that the picture was posted to his mother's Facebook page, along with a comment from her describing the crowd at Trump's speech that morning: "They were very peaceful. But I've seen how this develops, especially after dark. The pictures tyler sent of the crowds show normal, middle class, even older crowds.” CCTV footage from the U.S. Capitol Police allegedly showed Slaeker in a black helmet and gray jacket entering the Capitol building and in the Rotunda wearing an American flag gaiter-type mask.
Case History
Slaeker pleaded Guilty to one charge: Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 1/13/2023 to 36 Months of Probation (first 30 days on home detention); Special Assessment of $25; Restitution of $500; 240 hours of community service. Slaeker received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
