On Jan. 6, 2021, Troy Weeks allegedly entered the U.S. Capitol through a passage referred to as “the tunnel," approached a line of officers and grabbed a can of spray from law enforcement. According to court documents, police officers managed to get the can back, but seconds later, Weeks grabbed a police shield and said: “Please! We’re gonna die! Let us through! I can’t breathe! I have asthma!” Court documents indicate that he was also heard telling officers: “Why don’t we have f***ing police protecting the ballots? Why don’t we have this s*** when we have elections?” According to the FBI, Weeks was identified using social media. Court records state that his identity was later confirmed by relatives and colleagues agents interviewed in New York, where he resides.
