Case Summary

Tricia LaCount came to the FBI’s attention by way of two witnesses – one, who had been Facebook friends with her for 15 years, and the other, a neighbor for two years. The first witness pointed law enforcement to a video on LaCount’s Facebook page that appeared to show her in Washington, DC, on the day of the riot recording a live video captioned, “Walking to the Ellipse for the rally!” Also tagged in the video is a person the FBI had arrested for their part in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot. The neighbor, when interviewed, said that LaCount had told them she was in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6. Agents asked the neighbor to look at images from the riot of a woman they believed to be LaCount, and asked them if they recognized her; the neighbor identified her as LaCount. More Facebook records allegedly show a conversation between a user identified as LaCount and others, about a video that appeared to be taken inside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. A member of that conversation asked “You got in the Capitol?” to which the LaCount user replies “Absolutely!” and sends another video that appears to come from inside the Capitol. In the thread, the user that appears to be LaCount says, “Pelosi’s office is so gaudy.... massive chandelier, beautiful fireplace… MSNBC live was on every laptop.” According to the court documents, video footage obtained by law enforcement appears to show LaCount inside the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, wrapped in a large red Trump banner. Footage shows that she was inside the Capitol for more than an hour, leaving at 3:30 PM.
