Case Summary
In January of 2023, the police department in Golden, Colo., received an online tip with the subject: “January 6th #125 – AFO in your city!” with a link to a social media profile for a user named “Todd Casey," federal court records state. The phrase "#125-AFO" was in reference to a photograph the FBI had posted publicly, asking for information about the man depicted. Federal authorities had identified the man in question, court records indicate, in various video footage, including police body-worn camera footage, pushing against police, verbally and physically threatening them, aggressively grabbing police barricades, and entering a tunnel to the U.S. Capitol, where much of the violence that day occurred. Court documents indicate that federal authorities were also able to pinpoint Casey's phone as having been at the Capitol that day, and his travel records suggest the same.
Case History
Casey pleaded Not Guilty to all charges. Jury trial set for 2/3/2025. On 1/21/2025, the court grants the government’s motion to dismiss the case with prejudice.
