Case Summary
Thomas Pooler and Angel Villanueva drove from Florida to Washington, D.C., on Jan. 5, 2021, and attended the “Stop the Steal” rally the next day. They walked to the Capitol as Trump ended his speech and followed the crowd into the building at around 2:26 pm. Pooler left the building after 29 minutes and Villanueva after 31 minutes. Villanueva remained on the Upper West Terrace and allegedly participated, along with a crowd, in a confrontation with police officers. Court documents say that he admitted to the FBI in an interview in July, 2021, that he carried a can of pepper spray, metal tipped darts, and a pocketknife, the spray “for Antifa.”
Case History
Pooler pleaded Guilty to both charges. Sentenced on 3/20/2024 to 12 Months of Probation; 60 hours of community service; Special Assessment of $20; Fine in the amount of $1,000; Restitution in the amount of $500. Pooler received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
