Case Summary

Two days before the Capitol riot, Terry Lindsey allegedly posted on Facebook, "Going to D.C. anyone I know going give me a shout out." Federal prosecutors say that Lindsey then joined the rioters in storming the Capitol, and posted a photo of himself inside the building along with the caption, "Notice how peaceful we were inside the Capitol. Don’t believe the news we didn’t start s***.” (The government alleges Lindsey was standing next to another defendant in that photo, Glenn Croy.) He is also allegedly visible in footage from a police body camera. Later, on Jan. 6, 2021, prosecutors say Lindsey posted a message on Facebook in which he said people who "don't like" what happened in the Capitol that day were "brainwashed." According to a sentencing memorandum filed in federal court, Lindsey enlisted in the U.S. Army twice.

Case History

Lindsey pleaded Guilty to three charges: Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building; Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building; and Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charge was dismissed. Sentenced on 7/15/2022 to 5 months incarceration; 3 years probation; 60 hours of community service; $500 restitution; $45 special assessment. Lindsey received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
