Case Summary

Steven Miles allegedly shoved police officers outside the U.S. Capitol before breaking a window of the building and climbing inside on Jan. 6, 2021. According to court documents, Miles went to the Capitol with Matthew LeBrun, with whom he is charged, as well as two other men previously indicted in connection with the riot. The FBI says Miles can be seen in video and photos from that day wearing a black shirt that read “Trump 2020 F*** Your Feelings," camouflage pants and jacket, fingerless gloves, and a red “Make America Great Again” baseball cap. Prosecutors say AT&T records place Miles’ cellphone near the Capitol on the day of the riot. He was arrested in April of 2022. According to sentencing memos filed in court, Miles served in the U.S. Army with deployments to Iraq.
