Case Summary
In a video uploaded to YouTube on Jan. 6, 2021, Stephen Michael Baker of Raleigh, NC, admitted to being inside the U.S. Capitol building earlier that day during the riots. Court documents allege that Baker entered the building through the Senate Wing Door at around 2:19 pm, shortly after that entryway was first breached by protestors. Closed-circuit television captured him making his way through the Rotunda and Statuary Hall before coming to the doors of the House Chamber. After police dispersed the crowd with tear gas, Baker left the building shortly before 3 pm. A local television news segment later featured him describing the afternoon, with Baker saying, “Do I approve of what happened today? I approve one hundred percent.” Baker was arrested on Mar. 1, 2024, in Dallas, Tex.
Case History
Baker pleaded Guilty to all charges. Sentencing set for 3/6/2025. On 1/22/2025, the court grants the government’s motion to dismiss the case with prejudice
