Case Summary
Stefanie Nicole Chiguer came to the attention of the FBI when a witness identified her as the girlfriend of Kirstyn Niemela, who is also alleged to have entered the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021, and is charged in relation to the riot. The witness identified Chiguer only as “Stefanie” but told the FBI she lived in Dracut, Mass. A driver’s license photo for Chiguer matches Facebook photos from Jan. 6, court documents say. Those photos allegedly show Chiguer wearing a sweatshirt that says “We the People ARE PISSED OFF,” which matched a sweatshirt worn by Niemela. Prosecutors claim Chiguer can also be seen in surveillance photos from inside the Capitol, and data from Verizon is allegedly consistent with Chiguer’s phone being inside the Capitol as well.
Case History
Chiguer pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 6/9/2023 to 24 months probation; 120 hours of community service; $500 restitution; $10 special assessment. On 10/22/2024, the court terminated probation. Chiguer received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
