Case Summary
On Jan. 6, 2021, a little after 2:10 p.m., a U.S. Capitol Police officer is seen on a YouTube video being sprayed with what law enforcement identified as bear mace outside the Capitol building, according to court documents. As the officer attempts to go after the individual who sprayed her, Shane Jason Woods, who goes by the alias Shane Castleman, can allegedly be seen tripping and pushing the officer, who falls to the ground and loses her helmet. Several hours later, Woods is reportedly seen on a different video shouting and spitting at journalists who had their equipment broken by the crowd. He is also later seen tripping a cameraman who falls to the ground, court documents indicate. Woods reportedly traveled to Washington, D.C., to attend the pro-Trump rally. According to the FBI, Woods is the owner of Auburn Heating and Air Conditioning LLC.
