Case Summary

Scott Fairlamb, a gym owner from New Jersey, is accused of shoving an officer and punching the officer in the head on Capitol grounds on Jan. 6, 2021. Videos from that day allegedly show Fairlamb standing on scaffolding and carrying a baton while saying, "What do patriots do? We f***in' disarm them and then we storm the f***in' Capitol." He's charged with assaulting an officer, civil disorder, unlawful entry of a restricted building while armed with a dangerous or deadly weapon, and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. Last year, Fairlamb, who was struggling to keep his gym afloat because of pandemic lockdowns, protested and defied the governor's coronavirus restrictions. “He has overstepped his boundaries, and it’s time for these gyms, that are, that are essential to open up,” he told CBS New York at the time.

Case History

Fairlamb pleaded Guilty to two felony charges: Obstruction of an Official Proceeding; and Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding Certain Officers. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced 11/10/2021 to 41 months incarceration with credit for time served; 26 months supervised release; $200 special assessment; $2,000 fine. Fairlamb received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
