Case Summary
An unknown tipster sent the FBI a photo of Scott Columbus and his girlfriend at the time, Renee Fatta, who is also charged in relation to the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The FBI was then able to locate Columbus and Fatta in open source video, surveillance camera video, and police body-worn camera video from inside and on the grounds of the Capitol building, court documents indicate. In an interview with the FBI, Columbus allegedly admitted to entering the building. Court records state that the pair spent about three minutes inside.
Case History
Columbus pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 1/31/2024 to 30 months Probation; $500 Restitution; $10 special assessment. Columbus received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
