Case Summary

“Did u see the woman that got shot,” someone texted Sandra Pomeroy Weyer the day after the siege on the U.S. Capitol. “Hope you guys had nothing to do with the riots they were all hoodlums And traitors,” the person wrote, according to an FBI criminal complaint. “I seen no riots,” Weyer allegedly responded. “I saw Patriots sick of being lied to and the election being stolen from us! I saw no violence from Patriots!” That, according to a criminal complaint filed against Weyer, may not be exactly true. According to court papers, Weyer looked on as a handful of men accosted a New York Times photographer inside the Capitol that day and then stole her camera. Weyer allegedly recorded the assault on a Facebook live feed, and court papers say that on the recording, Weyer can be heard yelling, “Get her out, mace her,” as the photographer tries to get her camera back. In another video recorded from outside the Capitol that day, Weyer is allegedly shown joining the crowd chanting “let us in” and “break that door.”

Case History

Weyer pleaded Not Guilty to all charges. Found Guilty on all charges in a Bench trial on 6/6/2023. Sentenced on 9/14/2023 to 14 months incarceration; 12 months supervised release; $2,000 restitution; $170 special assessment. On 9/9/2024, the USCA vacated the Obstruction conviction. Resentenced on 10/30/2024 to time served; 12 concurrent months of Supervised Release; Special Assessment of $40; Restitution of $500. Weyer received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
