Case Summary

According to court documents, Samuel Camargo posted photographs, videos and messages on his social media channels that show him on Capitol grounds. Federal investigators highlight one video in which Camargo allegedly used his mobile phone to record his struggle with the U.S. Capitol Police over opening a door to the Capitol building. Another post allegedly shows Camargo holding a metal object with a caption that says: “got some memorabilia, did it myself.” Camargo admitted he attended the protests in an interview with a federal investigator, but he allegedly grew uncooperative and questioned the agent's loyalty to the Constitution, according to court documents. When Florida law enforcement officials attempted to arrest Camargo at his home in Broward County, Fla., he was not there. Investigators found him the following day in Washington, D.C., and took him into custody.
