Case Summary
Closed circuit television footage showed Ryan Joseph Orlando entering the U.S. Capitol at around 2:42 pm on Jan. 6, 2021, according to a federal affidavit. He wore a distinctive red, white and blue coat, along with a black mask and a Captain America-themed backpack. He entered the Senate Chamber around twenty minutes later, seemingly recording his journey through the building with his phone. He rifled through several desks, allegedly taking a pen from Sen. Susan Collins' desk, and a coaster from Sen. Joe Manchin's. After eventually being removed from the building by law enforcement, Orlando entered the Capitol again through a broken window before leaving again at around 3:37 pm.
