Case Summary
Video footage from Jan. 6, 2021, allegedly shows Ronald Alfred Bryan ascending the northwest steps of the U.S. Capitol, moving toward a group of police officers defending a landing, and using a wooden pallet as protection from pepper spray. Later, federal court records indicate Bryan can also be seen taking a riot shield from law enforcement and charging towards them and assaulting an officer. Open source video allegedly depicts Bryan describing in his own words what happened: “We ganged up, on the left side of the steps where the white tarps were. I started cutting the tarps off … stormed up the steps … I stole a baton. I stole a shield. [I] knocked two of them to the ground, took six of them to get me off of them.” According to the FBI statement of facts, Bryan is a veteran of the Vietnam War.
