Case Summary

Roger Kent Baugh, of Louisville, Ky., traveled to Washington, D.C., with his friend Mark Andre Mazza, after picking Mazza up at a casino in Ohio, court documents show. According to Baugh’s statement of offense, the two stayed at an Airbnb in Washington, attended the “Stop the Steal” rally, walked to the Capitol and pushed against officers in the tunnel more than once as part of a crowd of rioters. Baugh knew that Mazza brought a gun to Washington and to the Capitol, but didn’t know if Mazza had a license to carry the gun in D.C, prosecutors say. At some point, according to court documents, Mazza lost the gun, and told Baugh he would file a false police report claiming he lost it in Indiana. When interviewed, Baugh repeatedly denied entering the tunnel area or participating in violence against the police, prosecutors say. Baugh pleaded guilty to a charge of Civil Disorder in October of 2022.

Case History

Baugh pleaded Guilty to the single charge. Sentenced on 1/24/2023 to 12 months and 1 day incarceration; 2 years Supervised Release; a $100 Special Assessment; and Restitution of $2,000. Baugh received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
