Case Summary
According to court documents, Ray Cholod gathered with a mob on the Lower West Terrace and in an Archway and tunnel that leads into the Capitol Building. He is accused of entering the tunnel, where a line of officers were standing with riot shields to prevent the rioters from entering the building. Cholod allegedly pushed his arm and elbow into a police officer’s face and neck, then tried to wrest a riot shield from an officer. Later in the day, court documents say, he threw a baton or stick from the steps of the Lower West Terrace in the direction of officers at the entrance of the nearby tunnel. He was arrested in Miami, Fla., on Nov. 3, 2022.
Case History
Cholod pleaded Guilty to the single charge. Sentenced on 7/2/2024 to 40 Months of incarceration; 36 Months of supervised release; $100 special assessment; $2,000 restitution. Cholod received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
