Case Summary
Patrick John King told friends on Facebook that he “smoked weed n s***” while in the U.S. Capitol and “was part of rushing the riot police,” according to an FBI statement of facts. King also allegedly wrote to friends on Facebook that he “went to punk congress… let them know we ain’t f***ing around no more." Google records allegedly show King, similar to his co-defendant Brian Raymond Jones, spent the evening of Jan. 6, 2021, searching phrases like “Is it illegal to go into the Capitol,” “US Capitol facial recognition” and “Unlawful entry charge,” among others. A business owner near King’s home tipped off the FBI after one of King’s family members came into his business, in which a television was tuned to news coverage of the Jan. 6 riot. King’s relative allegedly told the business owner that King was “involved in that” and that he “went inside” the Capitol that day. King was arrested March 23, 2022, in Mount Vernon, Wash.

Sentenced on 5/9/2023 to 36 months of Probation; 90 days home detention; $10 Special Assessment; Restitution of $500; 60 hours of community service. King received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
