Case Summary

Nancy Barron turned herself in one day after the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, prosecutors say. The FBI interviewed Barron in person and allegedly matched her appearance to videos from inside and outside the Capitol. Court documents indicate Barron wore a “MAGA” beanie, a gray sweatshirt and a green coat, and investigators say Barron can be seen in images from the riot near the front of a group of rioters pushing up the stairs, then waving a flag before entering the Capitol. In her interview with the FBI, Barron told investigators she was pushed into the Capitol and immediately looked for an exit, which prosecutors say does not line up with video showing Barron walking through different areas of the building. The FBI says it served a search warrant to Facebook, which yielded Barron’s page, including a video where she can be heard saying she “made it in” to the Capitol and later “F*** Nancy Pelosi and f*** Chuck Schumer. Got to drag those c***s***ers down.” According to sentencing memos filed in court, Barron is a former member of the Army National Guard.
