Case Summary
"I was one of the first 15 people in the #Capitol. Wild stuff," reads a tweet that the FBI says was written by Mitchell Vukich. Seven online tips sent to federal law enforcement identified Vukich as someone who had bragged about being inside the U.S. Capitol during the insurrection. A subsequent search warrant found that Vukich's cellphone was inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. In addition, a person who looks like Vukich was identified on surveillance video inside the building. During an interview at the Las Vegas airport, Vukich told the FBI that he had been inside the Capitol and took congressional paperwork from the premises, according to court documents.
Case History
Vukich pleaded Guilty to the single charge. Sentenced 1/5/2022 to 30 days incarceration; Special Assessment of $10; Restitution of $500. Vukich received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
