Case Summary
In an interview with the FBI, Miles Adkins said that he had traveled to Washington, DC, a few times in late 2020, to act as an escort for persons associated with the Oath Keepers, according to a court document. Open-source videos from inside the Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021, show Adkins holding a large, canned beverage which he identifies in a Facebook post: “I drank fireball and a coors lite in the capitol.” When he left the Capitol building, Adkins can allegedly be heard yelling "Let's go get a beer, let’s go get a beer!" The Winchester Star newspaper identified Adkins as a publicly elected member of the Frederick County School Board in Virginia. According to a sentencing memo filed in court by the defendant, Adkins is a former U.S. Marine. Adkins was arrested on Feb. 27, 2024.
