Case Summary
According to the FBI, Michael Mackrell can be seen on police body-worn camera footage assaulting five police officers outside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. In the videos, he allegedly tackles three officers, pushes one, and wraps his arm around the neck of another, throwing that officer to the ground. Federal court records indicate that the FBI eventually identified the man assaulting officers as Michael Mackrell when they interviewed his son Clifford Mackrell, who is also charged in relation to the riot. According to sentencing memos filed in court, Mackrell served in the U.S. Marines.
