Case Summary

On Jan. 6, 2021, Mike Eckerman — wearing a red hat, neon gloves and a load-bearing tactical vest — is captured on body camera footage yelling at law enforcement outside the U.S. Capitol, according to court documents. Once inside the building, he is allegedly seen on surveillance cameras pushing an officer backward several feet. According to court documents, the pushed officer loses his balance and falls down a set of stairs. A different individual then proceeds to spray that officer with a fire extinguisher in the face. As Eckerman makes his way further in, he is seen pushing several other officers, court records indicate. Once back outside, Eckerman is reportedly captured on video discussing his motivation for going inside and also comments on the shooting of Ashli Babbitt. “I don’t know her name, all I know is we went there (Capitol) as patriots. She is dead because we’re here. These mother f***ers are traitors, they are f***ing traitors!” he allegedly says.

Case History

Eckerman pleaded Guilty to one charge: Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding Certain Officers or Employees. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced 3/8/2023 to 20 months incarceration, with credit for 1 day; 24 months of supervised release; $100 special assessment; $2,000 in restitution. Eckerman received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
