Case Summary
Social media posts allegedly by Matthew Mazzocco place him at and inside the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021. A Facebook photo in court documents shows Mazzocco, a mortgage loan officer, right outside the Capitol building with the caption,"The Capital [sic] is ours!" In a video, Mazzocco appears to be looking out a window, where the back of a police line in the exterior plaza of the Capitol building is visible. At one point, Mazzocco is allegedly seen and heard telling rioters not to take or destroy anything, and that they were probably going to get in trouble for what they were doing.
Case History
Mazzocco pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges were dismissed. He was sentenced 10/4/2021 to 45 days of incarceration; 60 hours of community service; $10 assessment fee; $500 restitution. Mazzocco received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
