Case Summary

Matthew Bokoski and his father, Bradley, who is also charged, were inside the U.S. Capitol for about five minutes, but their time there was well-documented, court documents show. Prosecutors say Bokoski took photos and videos, including one showing his outfit, which included a red and blue “Trump 2020” flag on his back and a red and blue hat with a pompom on top. One of Bokoski’s Facebook posts, which the FBI says it uncovered through a search warrant, allegedly read “...only thing I’m guilty of is trespassing on federal property if you want to get down to it. I kept my distance from police and even thanked them for being out and making sure things don’t get insane.” Prosecutors say Bokoski confirmed his presence in the Capitol in an interview and shared photos with investigators. Bokoski also said in the interview that the rally was effective because it shut down government, court documents show. Bokoski was arrested in May of 2022.

Case History

Bokoski pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 5/25/2023 to 36 months Probation; $10 Special Assessment; Restitution of $500; 150 hours of community service. Bokoski received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
