Case Summary
In an interview with FBI agents more than a year after Jan. 6, 2021, Mason Porter admitted to being inside the U.S. Capitol building that day, and that he had realized it was wrong once he entered. However, court documents point to a Facebook post from the day after the riot, which read in part: "I don't feel shame... Imagine what could happen if we exercised our second amendment to the fullest." Porter was inside the building for a little more than twenty minutes. He was arrested on Feb. 2, 2024, in Rittman, OH. According to sentencing memos filed in court, Porter served in the U.S. Army.
Case History
Porter pleaded Guilty to two charges: Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building; Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 1/8/2025 to 24 months of Probation (with conditions); Restitution in the amount of $500; $20 Special Assessment. Porter received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
