Case Summary

A longtime friend of Marcos Gleffe's contacted the FBI after seeing a Facebook post from Gleffe that indicated he had been at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to a criminal complaint. The FBI was then able to trace Gleffe's cellphone location that day and confirmed that the device had been inside the building, court documents indicate. Gleffe is also allegedly in security camera footage inside the building, where he can be seen holding a flag that reads, "TRUMP 2020 MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN." In a May 3, 2021, interview with the FBI, Gleffe reportedly admitted to being inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and said he decided to do so after he overheard people at the pro-Trump rally saying they were going to storm the building. He told the FBI he had made the "biggest mistake going through the door" and would take it back if he could, according to court documents.

Case History

Gleffe pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 2/10/2023 to 36 months of Probation; 60 days home detention; 60 hours community service; Special Assessment of $10; Fine of $500; Restitution of $500. Gleffe received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
