Case Summary
On Feb. 3, 2021, a tipster called the FBI to tell agents that shortly before Jan. 6, Marc Bru had said he planned to travel to Washington, D.C., to "witness history in the making." When the tipster asked Bru what he meant, Bru replied, “You are about to see — it’s going to be big.” According to court documents, several photographs and videos from Jan. 6 show Bru marching with the Proud Boys and flashing the "OK" hand sign, a gesture associated with the far-right hate group. Later, he is allegedly seen grabbing a police barricade in an attempt to wrench it away from officers. Photographs and security camera footage from inside the U.S. Capitol that day, as well as location records obtained from AT&T, also place Bru inside the building that afternoon, court records show.

Bru pleaded Not Guilty to all charges. Found Guilty in a Bench trial on 10/3/2023 on all charges. Re-sentenced on 11/22/2024 to 60 months incarceration; 3 years Supervised Release; fine of $7,946, Special Assessments of $180; Restitution of $2,000. Bru received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
