Case Summary
Sometime in January, the FBI received a tip that Madison Pettit had been inside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, along with her boyfriend, Gabriel Burress, who is also charged in the insurrection. According to court documents, the FBI traced Pettit's cellphone to an area that included the inside of the Capitol that day, and the bureau was also able to locate Pettit and Burress in security camera footage, where they are seen walking closely together. Pettit allegedly admitted to entering the building and said that once inside, she had felt pepper spray in her lungs.
Case History
Pettit pleaded Guilty to the charge. Sentenced to 18 months probation; 45 days location monitoring/home detention; 60 hours community service; $10 special assessment; $500 restitution. Pettit received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
