Case Summary
Law enforcement was first alerted about Louis Valentin approximately one week after Jan. 6, 2021, according to court documents. Prosecutors say he had gone to Washington, D.C., with his friend and roommate Julio Baquero, and in a March 2021 interview, he allegedly acknowledged being inside the U.S. Capitol on the day of the insurrection. According to a federal filing, Valentin can be observed on camera footage entering the Capitol wearing a red hat and flag mask. While law enforcement asserts that Baquero physically and verbally confronted officers attempting to clear the Capitol, they make no similar claim about Valentin.
Case History
Valentin pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 7/14/2023 to 12 months probation; 10 days intermittent confinement; $10 special assessment; $500 restitution; 60 hours of community service. Valentin received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
