Case Summary
According to federal agents, on Jan. 7, 2021, Kyle Travis Colton told passengers on a flight from Washington, D.C., to Los Angeles that he had been in the “second wave” of protestors inside the Capitol building the previous day. One of those passengers subsequently contacted the FBI to relay that information, and Colton was identified through airline and phone records. Review of video footage from inside the Capitol showed Colton in the Rotunda refusing orders from police officers to leave, and joining a scrum of protestors combating law enforcement. He was arrested on December 15, 2023.
Case History
Colton pleaded Guilty to the single charge. Sentencing reset for 1/22/2025. On 1/21/2025, the court grants the government’s motion to dismiss the case with prejudice
