Case Summary
According to court documents, Kimberly Sylvester was interviewed by federal agents in December, 2021, about her actions at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 earlier that year. While she admitted to agents that she had been inside the building, she claimed that she had entered in an empty area, realized she should not have been inside, and even asked a U.S. Capitol police officer how she could find the exit. However, security camera footage showed Sylvester entering the building through the Senate Wing Door alongside rioters climbing through windows, just a few minutes after the building was breached at that site. Cameras show Sylvester inside the Capitol for approximately an hour, in multiple rooms and corridors. She was arrested Dec. 13, 2023.
Case History
Sylvester pleaded Guilty to the two charges. Sentenced on 6/13/2024 to 12 months of Probation; Restitution in the amount $500; Special Assessments totaling $20; 100 hours of community service. Sylvester received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
