Case Summary

Kevin Seefried was the man photographed carrying a Confederate battle flag inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to federal investigators. He was there that day with his son, Hunter Seefried, who is also facing charges. In interviews with investigators, both confirmed participating in the breach of the Capitol. The elder Seefried also said he brought the Confederate flag from his home where it is usually displayed outside. Investigators reviewed a video on Twitter that shows Hunter Seefried punching out glass in a window in the Capitol complex after others in the crowd broke it with a wooden 2x4. Seefried told agents that his son was asked by another individual in the crowd to help clear the window because he was wearing gloves. Once the window was cleared, the crowd, including the Seefrieds, entered the Capitol building.

Case History

Kevin Seefried was convicted in a Bench trial on all charges. Sentenced on 2/9/2023 to 36 Months of Incarceration; 12 Months of Supervised Release; $170 Special Assessment; Restitution in the amount of $2,000. Seefried received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
