Case Summary
Federal prosecutors allege that Kevin M. Cronin, Jr. took part in the Jan. 6, 2021 riot in the U.S. Capitol along with his father, Kevin Cronin, Sr., and his younger brother, Dylan R. Cronin. Kevin Cronin, Jr. serves with the Washington Army National Guard, Dylan Cronin serves in the U.S. Army Reserves, and Kevin Cronin, Sr. works with the U.S. Postal Service, court documents state. Those court filings indicate that Dylan Cronin can be seen on video kicking an exterior door to the Senate side of the U.S. Capitol, then using a "piece of lumber" to break a windowpane and enter the building. Kevin Cronin, Jr. and Kevin Cronin, Sr. then allegedly entered the building through a nearby door, which had been breached. The elder Cronin, prosecutors state, soon left the building, but his sons later made their way to different parts of the Capitol building, including the statuary hall and crypt. The three men allegedly remained on Capitol grounds for at least two hours after the building was breached. According to sentencing memos filed in court, Cronin, Jr. served in the U.S. Army from Aug. 2014 to Aug. 2018; then with the Washington Army National Guard from 2018 to 2021.
