Case Summary
Prosecutors allege that Kevin Creek was involved in some of the most intense clashes with law enforcement during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol around the West Terrace. Body camera footage from police appears to show Creek punching and kicking police, court documents say. A complainant reported to the FBI he heard Creek talking about his role in the events of the day while visiting Northside Forsyth Hospital in Georgia a few days later, according to court documents. Creek reportedly said he was bruised and had been tear-gassed attempting to get inside the Capitol building. Agents traced his route from Georgia to Washington, D.C., through credit card statements, transit records and hotel charges. When FBI agents spoke with Creek and his attorney, Creek admitted to his involvement and confirmed his identity in photos shown to him of the riot, court documents say. The assaults on law enforcement were also shown to Creek, who said the video did look like him but that he didn't remember "assaulting any officer." Creek described his movements that day in "great detail," according to court documents, and disclosed he was armed with Mace and a boot knife at the Capitol. When asked if he regretted his conduct that day, Creek reportedly responded: "50/50." Creek is a former U.S. Marine and served from 1995 to 1999, a Marine Corps spokesperson confirmed. He had no deployments and obtained the rank of Corporal, the spokesperson said. He is also the registered agent of Nailed It Roofing and Restoration in Johns Creek, Ga., according to Georgia Corporations Division records.
