Case Summary
Kenneth Kelly was identified from an online tip by an informant claiming to be related to him. The informant provided agents with photos of Kelly and another person going to the riot at the U.S. Capitol and "breaking into the Capitol building via smashing windows." Court documents indicate the informant told the FBI that Kelly held "extreme political views and had mentioned 'QAnon' " in the months leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection. Surveillance footage allegedly shows Kelly taking pictures inside the Capitol, wearing an outfit that matched a photo he had sent to the unidentified informant. Kelly refers to the Capitol as the "White House" in two of the texts, according to the FBI statement of facts. "Inside White house via breaking in windows," Kelly allegedly wrote.
