Case Summary
The FBI began an investigation into Kene Brian Lazo after receiving a tip about a Facebook photo showing an individual inside the U.S. Capitol on the day of the riot. Using a combination of open-source searches and Facebook records obtained through a warrant, the FBI found that Lazo operated that Facebook page with his wife, according to court documents. Lazo allegedly posted ahead of Jan. 6, 2021, that he would be attending protests in Washington, D.C., that day and that he would be "the only 1 with a boi boi representing asians," an apparent reference to a type of broom used in the Philippines. Ahead of the riot, Lazo apparently wrote on social media that "if s**t hits the fan i will get some dead guys gear and guns if it comes down to it," court documents say. Lazo was also captured on closed-circuit TV footage inside the Capitol, the FBI alleges. He was arrested May 28, 2021, in Norfolk, Va.
