Case Summary

Kelsey Wilson's husband, Zachary Wilson, was indicted early on in connection to the riot at the U.S. Capitol. The FBI became aware of him in January after receiving an anonymous tip, according to court documents. The tip pointed to a post on his Facebook account that said he had entered the Capitol and that, while inside, went into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office. In a screenshot of that now-deleted Facebook post, Wilson had tagged his wife, Kelsey Wilson. Initially, both denied they had been inside the Capitol building. Zachary Wilson later admitted to the FBI that he had been inside, but denied his wife had been there. Later, a co-worker of Kelsey Wilson told the FBI that they had been in Washington, D.C., with the couple, and that both had been inside the Capitol for about 30 minutes, court documents indicate. Additionally, the affidavit says that survelliance footage shows both of them inside the building, Kelsey wearing a black and gold hat and a "Make America Great Again" flag wrapped around her body. Wilson is a first-grade teacher at Dayspring Christian School in Springfield, Mo., which has released a statement saying she had been put on administrative leave, according to news reports.

Case History

Wilson pleaded Guilty to the single charge. Sentenced 1/27/2022 to 24 months probation; 30 days home detention; 60 hours community service; $10 special assessment; $500 restitution. Wilson received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
