Case Summary
Kellye SoRelle has worked as an attorney for the far-right anti-government militia known as the Oath Keepers, though she does not represent any of the Oath Keepers currently facing criminal charges connected to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Footage taken by a documentary filmmaker on Jan. 5, 2021, shows SoRelle at a meeting in a Washington, D.C., parking garage along with Stewart Rhodes, the founder and leader of the Oath Keepers, and Enrique Tarrio, then the leader of the far-right group the Proud Boys. Both Rhodes and Tarrio have been charged with seditious conspiracy. Federal prosecutors allege that SoRelle conspired to prevent the certification of the electoral college vote on Jan. 6 and entered restricted grounds outside the U.S. Capitol. Prosecutors also allege that on Jan. 7, 2021, SoRelle "did corruptly persuade and attempted to corruptly persuade" people to withhold or destroy documents or other records that were subject to a grand jury investigation. SoRelle was arrested on Sept. 1, 2022, in Junction, Texas.
