Case Summary
Karegan Bostic’s father and sister, Willard Bostic and Meghan Rutledge, were both arrested for their involvement on Jan. 6, 2021, in the riot at the U.S. Capitol. In the course of the FBI’s investigation of the two of them, a woman – alleged to be Karegan Bostic – can be seen on CCTV footage with a blond ponytail, tan baseball hat, and blue face mask, and the three can be seen entering the Capitol together. A search of Willard Bostic and Meghan Rutledge’s phones revealed pictures of Karegan Bostic on Jan. 6, including one that appears to be of the two sisters in front of the Washington Monument. After the FBI interviewed Karegan Bostic at work, she said that, along with her father and sister, she walked into the Capitol, walked around, and left. She also said that she did not see any violence that day and felt they had been “set-up" when they heard of the violence afterward.
Case History
Bostic pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced 3/9/2023 to 36 months probation; 30 days location monitoring; Special Assessment of $10; $500 restitution. Bostic received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
