Case Summary

Kaleb Dillard went to the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, “to strike fear into the politicians,” according to an FBI tipster who claims they spoke with Dillard the day after the riot. Security footage shows Dillard grabbing a police officer from behind and throwing him to the ground before pushing a second officer in the chest near the East Rotunda doors at about 2:30 p.m. that day, according to an FBI statement of facts. Court records indicate that the second officer later told the FBI that Dillard began yelling at him when he tried to secure the Rotunda doors, claiming that he’d been in the military. According to sentencing memos filed in court, Dillard served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was arrested Aug. 23, 2022, in Columbiana, Ala.

Dillard pleaded Guilty to one charge: Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding Certain Officers. The other charges are dismissed.
