Case Summary
The FBI alleges that Juliano Gross documented his own participation in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection on TikTok. Court documents show Gross first came to the attention of investigators via two online tips from people who shared screenshots of the TikTok account @julianospiano. The tipsters didn’t know Gross but wanted to help with the investigation, prosecutors say. The FBI later interviewed Gross twice, and according to investigators, Gross admitted to going into the U.S. Capitol, hoping to livestream the day’s events to secure donations. Gross allegedly told the FBI he received $150 to $200 but was not able to retrieve the money after his account was “banned.” Court documents state that Gross also confirmed his clothing on Jan. 6, 2021: a red Trump hat and an American flag mask. Prosecutors say that a person matching that description can be seen in surveillance footage from that day as well. They also say that a TikTok video purportedly from Gross’ account includes Gross saying: “We are in the Capitol Building. The Capitol Building has been overthrown.”

Gross pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 12/9/2022 to 24 months probation; 45 days location monitoring; 100 hours community service; $500 restitution; $10 special assessment. Gross received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
