Case Summary
Julia Sizer came to the attention of the FBI via a tip from a person who'd obtained a video allegedly taken by the defendant that showed her "in the [U.S.] capitol building during the insurrection," court documents indicate. The criminal complaint says that after reviewing the video, agents reached out to Sizer, who denied being in the Capitol at the time of the Jan. 6, 2021, riot and subsequently acquired counsel. Sizer's phone was not shown to be among those that showed up in records provided by Google in a search warrant, but after a later interview with the FBI in the presence of her legal counsel, she admitted she was inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to court documents. Sizer also confirmed that she'd taken the video inside the Capitol and described the clothing she was seen wearing that could also be matched to closed circuit TV footage, including a hat with the word "Trump" emblazoned across it. More footage appears to show her entering the Capitol just after the first surge through the door but leaving soon after, according to court documents.
Case History
Sizer pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced 2/1/2022 to 12 months probation; $2,000 fine; $10 special assessment; and $500 in restitution. Sizer received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
