Case Summary
Federal prosecutors say Joshua Youngerman was part of “The California Patriot - DC Brigade” – a Telegram chat group that coordinated their arrival to Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021. Youngerman allegedly wrote to the group that he doesn’t have police or military experience, but a little training in mixed martial arts and planned to bring knives and other defense tools to D.C. According to the federal court records, law enforcement interviewed Youngerman in the summer of 2021, and he admitted to coming to D.C. to attend former President Trump's rally and to provide protection against counter-protestors, but denied having entered the U.S. Capitol. However, FBI agents reviewed surveillance footage from the building that allegedly show Youngerman entering the Capitol briefly. On Jan. 7, Youngerman allegedly wrote a number of posts on Twitter including: “I am in full support of storming and occupying the Capital from the inside and out. That was the original intent for many. We came to claim back our house.”
Case History
Youngerman pleaded Not Guilty to all charges. Jury Trial set to commence on 2/24/2025. On 1/22/2025, the court grants the government’s motion to dismiss the case with prejudice
