Case Summary

Jorge Riley allegedly traveled to Washington, D.C., from Sacramento, Calif. Court documents indicate that on Jan. 6, 2021, Riley — dressed in a black leather jacket, wearing white feathers in his braided hair and donning face paint — appears on multiple social media posts entering the U.S. Capitol. “I’m here to see what my President called me to DC for. Hello from Sacramento!!!” reads one of his Facebook posts. According to court documents, between Jan. 6 and Jan. 8, Riley posted more than “150 messages, photographs, and videos on his public Facebook account, detailing his actions.” “We breached over there I think. We broke windows, we went into the door, we pushed our way in, and then we just kept going further and further … we went into, there was like a corridor building … We pushed our way to Nancy Pelosi’s office … and then we were sitting in there yelling “f*** you Nancy Pelosi,” he allegedly said in one of the videos. Riley served as the corresponding secretary for the State Board of the California Republican Assembly and was president of the Sacramento chapter. He resigned after the organization was made aware of his alleged participation during the riots on Jan. 6. According to a sentencing memorandum filed in federal court, he also served in the U.S. Army.
